Shuri is a daughter of our Maisie and a Belgian dog named Tiemen and she once again is a creation of a typical Dailuaine mating – something absolutely unorthodox, something, others do not dare, something, that is really unique, something, you need to have the right touch for Maisie and Tiemen. It was a virgin-mating, it was the first time for both. Although it looked like they do it every day for years. Many thanks to Nancy, Christa and Erwin for their wonderful hospitality and their agreement to take part to our little experiment. The mating was perfect, but the following birth a little complicated, it took place on three different locations – first at home, then in the car and finally at the vet-clinic in Giessen.
But it was worth it – what a wonderful litter this RR-Litter is, especially my lovely Shuri.
Well, it’s about time you get to know her:
Please meet the one and only Shuri alias Dailuaine Ribbons ’n‘ Bows:

Let’s come to her ancestry. I already mentioned her love affair with Tiemen. Important for me was that I continue my original line, in her pedigree are Skye, Sunshine and Shadow. And all the rest of her ancestry makes experts shiver by respect and all non-experts look after the Champion-Reds as usual before shivering:

Shuri is a pure angel – although not on the leash, she pulls like crazy and regarding her recall she has immense room to improve – even after dog school for decades. However, to other dogs and especially to humans, she is like an angel. She looks for contact all the time and likes to cuddle and get pet – the more the better. The only thing she hates is when you stop cuddling her.
Plus she is an engaged and absolute retrieve-monster. She retrieves everything she finds: dummies, branches, towels, bowls and paper-bags from the bakery, Thank God, she shows some respect for hedgehogs.
Her temperament is more than typical of the breed and really excellent – which is confirmed by the official temperament test:
“ A very happy bitch. She enjoys running with other dogs.
With enthusiasmshe accepts all offers for playing, especially balls
and always wants more. She is without fear for the human crowd,
very self reliant, she looks at everything, accompanies the jogger,
enjoys to be pet and shows a very positive temperament
during the whole test. Towards her mistress she shows a faithful binding
and great safety. Every once and a while she takes time to sniff
and rummage around. Her hunting attributes were shown clearly
and ambitiously. She moves safely, friendly and without
any fear in the pack.Shooting doesn’t bother her at all,
she races to retrieve the dummy and with her mistress directly to the shooter.
She is absolutely gunshot-proof.“
For me she is clearly one of the most beautiful dogs around – I don’t need to stress this. Although beauty lies in the eye of the viewer, so let other more competent people judge. Have look at the official appearance judging – of course it’s „excellent“:
„Good size, feminine head and dark eyes.
Excellent coat, lots of personaity, excellent construction,
correct in all parts. Wonderful temperament.“
And Eddie Webster one of the judge-gurus from Scotland says:
“ Super quality, very balanced and of good type, feminine head
with dark eye, giving lovely expression, very good pigment,
good reach of neck and well placed shoulders, level topline,
very good rear angulation, good bone, tight feet, deep in chest
and well ribbed, very short coupled, moved with reach and drive.
Very well handled.“
And Liz Keene, one of the Grand-Old-Ladies of England’s Retriever scenery and a very experienced and successful breeders says about her:
“ Really lovely head and expression on this young lady,
super reach of neck into well placed forehand, lovely character,
stands firmly with legs underneath, good spring of ribs, strong loin,
great topline held on the move, sound drivin g movement.
Liked her a lot.“
Shuri often proves her quality in the show ring, but she decided very soon to prefer family over carreer and had her first litter with two years – our UU-Litter. We kept Willow out of that litter, so we have a three generation dog home – Maisie, Shuri and Willow.
